They Stole My Freakin' Hubcaps

I haven't posted in quite some time. I've been very busy, but also very much in a rhythm. I do what I need to do and the students do...well, they're not doing anything. I hand out an assignment to 14 people and I get one back. This is after I took some huge steps towards making my classroom about them, tailoring instruction for individual needs and such. I'm not complaining about needing to tailor instruction. That has been a rewarding exercise overall.
Today, though, one kid with about 5 accomplices stole the hubcaps off of my car. This is a kid I thought I was making headway with. We talked about my car before and that is how he knew which one was mine. It is no Cadillac, but he's 14 and wants to drive so he's interested. So we talk cars a little. Everyone in education today would say, "That's good. Reach the student at the level he is at. Connect in interpersonal ways. Don't make it all about the curriculum." HOWEVER, this knuckled head used our "interpersonal connection" to jack my hubcaps! Where the @#!$ do I go from here...except to the police, that is.
